The clitoris has a hood over it much like a hoody. At times there are multiple folds of skin that make the anatomy challenging for a patient or embarrassing. Dr. Salisbury does both a clitoral hood taper procedure AND removal of the excess skin if needed to allow for a symmetrical look that is aesthetically pleasing and permits good sexual function.
Reduction of clitoral hood prepuce – This is a procedure that smooths the redundant skin over the clitoral hood. This loose skin often becomes more obvious after a labioplasty and reduction in the ‘hood’ allows a more aesthetic result. This will be explained more in detail in consultation. It is rarely done as a procedure on its own. Knowledge of female surgical anatomy is important in this area and studies have confirmed, it allows for enhanced sensation. There is no risk of decreased sensitivity as a result of this procedure.
